Trampoline 

& Tumbling

The Tramp and Tumble program at roots provides a broad base of skills students can use to pursue further goals in gymnastics and virtually every other activity in which aerial awareness and coordination are a priority. By utilizing multiple kinds of trampolines and floor spaces, students will be exposed to a variety of techniques and skills that will improve their athletic ability in an engaging environment. 

Trampoline Level 1

Ages 6-12
1 hour

     In level one students are introduced to the basic concepts of trampoline. Students begin by learning how to fall safely, perform stomach and back drops, full twists, tuck, straddle, and pike; and begin to work on front flips. These skills are learned as students use a variety of trampolines and surfaces including the competition trampolines. A variety of mats, barrels, and occasional use of a foam pit ensures students can progress safely and confidently.

     Students must also demonstrate the ability to show competent skills on the trampolines and execute a ¾ front flip before moving on to level 2

Tumbling Level 1

Age 6-12
1 hour

In level one students are introduced to the basic concepts of tumbling. In level one we learn forward and backward rolls, hand stands, cartwheels, and beginning round offs. These skills are learned as students use a variety of surfaces including the tumble track, and rod floor. A variety of mats, barrels, and occasional use of a foam pit ensures students can progress safely and confidently.

     The goals for level one are that students develop the ability to execute proper handstands, cartwheels, and roundoffs.

Trampoline Level 2

Age 6-12
1 hour

     In level 2 students build on the skills already acquired. Of the many skill students will develop, some include: back tucks, pikes, kick outs, and back flips. These skills are learned as students use a variety of trampolines and surfaces including the competition trampolines. A variety of mats, barrels, and occasional use of a foam pit ensures students can progress safely and confidently. The goal of level two is to get students feeling confident and proficient at a variety of trampoline skills. Once students are adept at the above skills students may then move on to level 3. 

Tumbling Level 2

Age 6-12
1 hour

     In level 2 students build on the skills already acquired. Apart from bettering floor skills already introduced student will also learn handstand forward rolls and running roundoff rebound. Back and front hand springs both alone and with a spot are introduced as well. These skills are learned as students use a variety of surfaces including the tumble track and rod floor. A variety of mats, barrels, and occasional use of a foam pit ensures students can progress safely and confidently. The goal of level two is to get students feeling confident and proficient at a variety of floor skills. Once students are adept at the above skills students may then move on to level 3. 

Tramp & Tumble Levels 3-4

Ages 6-15
2 hours

     In level 3 students will continue to build upon on the skills they have previously developed. Some of these skills include back tucks, twisting front & back layouts, side somis, and doubles on tramp. Tumbling skills include handstands to bridge, standing back hand spring rebounds, and a standing back tuck. Similarly to the previous two classes, this class will be utilizing tumble track, mini tramp, and rod floor. Throughout the course, students will be working to develop their flexibly and strength training as well.
